MERI To Feature BLUE PLANET: SEAS OF LIFE Series

12/20/02

Beginning in January, the Marine Environmental Research Institute (MERI) will begin airing “The Blue Planet: Seas of Life,” a video series shot in more than 200 locations over five years. The series has been praised for its stunning videography, stirring soundtrack by George Fenton, and moving narration by British actor David Attenborough.

MERI will show the series in its entirety throughout January and February, with each of the eight episodes projected on a large screen for easier viewing. “Ocean World,” the first in the series, will air Friday, January 10 at 7:00 PM at MERI’s Center for Marine Studies, 55 Main Street in Blue Hill.

Other titles in the series will be shown on subsequent Fridays through February 28. They include “Frozen Seas” on January 17; “Open Ocean” on January 24; “The Deep” on January 31; “Seasonal Seas” on February 7; “Coral Seas” on February 14; “Tidal Seas” on February 21, and “Coasts” on February 28. Complimentary popcorn and beverages will be provided, and donations for participation are welcome.
